![]() ![]() Note: I have been using the SS mags for hog dumping as well, and they work just dandy for that application. The flush fits are a pain to get it and out, but work well with the 5rd stripper clip via stripper clip guide method of loading. Note: I would like to see some 10rd as well as 5rd mags come out of CMI that are made like the 20rd types. then this might be a worth the time/$$ to pick up a few. (You pick, but I would have to give the edge to SS in this application.and especially due to the inside of the mag body and spring being of same finish. They really shined when loading them with the rifles stripper clip guide, so for folks who prefer this method of loading thier M1A/M14's. If one does need a signaling device, them SS mags would do the trick, not to mention a shave.lolġ0 Advantages over GI so far: Stainless vs parkerized. The mirror like shine does not appeal to me all that much, but is a simple fix with a can of Krylon's finest. Dislikes: They are more expensive and hard to find at this time. Longterm durability: I havent evaluated them long enough to know 100%, but from my experience with these types of rifles as well as CMI M14 magazines, I have every reason to believe they will work just as well for the long run.ĩ. I can still see enough of my mug to shave with by using a SS mag.lolĨ. Typical marks left where most mags rub on both sides in addition to where they lock up into the rifle. The follower's coating is still intact, and hasnt rubbed off anywheres yet. ![]() No issues whatsoever, and I really didnt expect any.as the dimensions had panned out as the same for GI mags.ħ. Lock up and function with rifles: Way too easy in several different SAI M1A's, Chicom M14's, and also with 2 different M14 service rifles at work. Very smooth in comparison with park GI.ĥ. Loading mag via 5rd stripper clips: I couldnt tell any difference when using the spoon to load up the mag, but a noteble difference, while using my M1A-A1's stripper clip guide while mag was inserted into the rifle. I gotta give the credit here to the teflon coated follower, and how smooth the inside of the feed lips are with the SS mag.Ĥ. Loading mag by hand: In comparison with the GI mag, it felt a little easier to load um up. Dimensions: The SS mags are exact same in this dept, as the parked GI mags. Their customer service is 2nd to none in my experience concerning a used XD40. SAI will cover the costs involved to make all right, and too include any of their marked mags that were damaged by an out of spec rifle. A 2nd SAI magazine will tell me if I simply ended up with an out of spec magazine, or if the issue is the rifle itself, which it most likely is. Utilizing an aftermarket mag wont tell me anything in this regard. The last reason is to eliminate the issue as a mag related issue by utilizing another magazine of same maker. This isnt a GI spec mag, and while it may insert into the rifle without any finish damage, it would do so because it's dimensions are not the same as CMI or USGI. The other reason stems from several aftermarket magazines and their dimensions. ( Contact them directly just to be sure.)Įspecially if the magazines are 1960 era USGI M14 magazines. If it was my rifle, then I wouldn't want to tear up a finish on any mag I purchased, unless SAI would cover any damage. SAI will take care of the rifle and any of their marked magazines, but not any other magazines.so there is no sense in running other mags thru this rifle for this reason. All they do is add their logo to the mags. (SAI) M1A magazines are made for them by Checkmate Industries. ![]()
